They open at 5:30 p.m., so I went there about 5 minutes before, but they didn't let me in. It may be obvious, but I thought that if it was a proper restaurant, there should be a waiting area. However, that is a mistake in my judgment, and it is not a "proper restaurant". As everyone has written, it does use branded tableware, but the point is that it is a small restaurant in the back alley, and it is trying too hard to look luxurious. The low ceiling, the narrow space between the tables, the behavior of the staff, the way of service, everything is second to third rate. I don't understand the meaning of Michelin stars. I went alone because I was traveling alone, but I think that's something you should avoid. Of course, they treat you properly (especially they always quickly refill the tea), but the seating is bad to begin with. Most of the restaurants are families or groups of 3 to 5 or more, so you are inevitably relegated to a place that is like a pass. It said "seasonal fish", so I asked many times what kind of fish it was, but (perhaps because it's Japanese or because my English is poor) they just described the cooking method and I didn't understand. They were not enthusiastic about explaining the dishes, and just put them on the table with a few words. The food was a fixed course for one person, about 6 points out of 10. The seafood taste that is characteristic of this restaurant cannot be enjoyed with a course for one person. The chimaki dumplings filled with seasonal ingredients (chestnuts, lily bulbs, etc., of course, I didn't know because there was no explanation) were outstanding. The shark fin, shrimp, and "seasonal fish" (no explanation when served. Maybe a type of pomfret?) were all average for a decent Chinese restaurant in Japan. But the price was top-notch! For a meal for one person, with this content, atmosphere, and customer service, I don't think it's worth paying this price. I'm sure Michelin would have been able to accommodate a group. It was fun to wander around the night market while enjoying the mysterious nightlife around Longshan Temple Station.
