Someone will notify me the day before to confirm my identity. When I arrived at Lao Cai train station, someone was waiting with my name on it, which was very convenient. Then I went directly to the hotel I booked in Sapa

You can sleep on the train at night, arrive in Lao Cai when you wake up, and continue your journey to Sapa with full energy.

It’s really a super old train with tastefully furnished cabin, expensive it is. It’s a tourist thing, the locals don’t do this for sure. Fun for the whole family. It’s not easy to sleep well, you’ll be super tired after this. Not sure about other operators, but for Chapa, I don’t feel the toilet is good. The hospitality is awesome though. Overall, yes, you should experience it at least once.

No fuss shuttle bus ride from Lao Cai station to Sapa town. The driver will drop you off at your place of accommodation. Overall shuttle ride took about 45mins, very comfortable ride.

We truly enjoyed the overnight sleeper train from Hanoi to Lao Cai while heading to Sapa. It was truly unique and we had a very comfortable sleep at night. We purchased the VIP cabin for 2 persons, there were complimentary snacks and bottled water and toothbrushes to use. We were pleasantly surprised that the sleeper train was clean, from the cabin to the toilets. However the instructions to redeem the paper tickets at Hanoi Railway Station were not really clear, it was simply spotting a guy sitting at a makeshift table at the station entrance. You will have to mention your voucher number and he will pass you the tickets accordingly. There will also be a guy going around asking if you want coffee/tea before the train arrives the next day, please note that the drinks are chargeable and in my opinion, highly overpriced for instant coffee. But overall, highly recommend this to all!

Communication with the travel agency is smooth. If you have any questions, you can leave a message directly. The reply is very fast. I recommend that the sleeper experience is very interesting and the process is very shaky. I recommend taking motion sickness pills to help you fall asleep.

The interior is nice and Sapa-style. Drinks and snacks such as beer were provided. The toilet paper ran out midway through and was not replenished. Morning coffee is charged. Overall it was good.

This time I took the chapa train, which is a different style of sleeper train. It was equally comfortable and the toilet was very clean. I was traveling alone, so I was the only one in the entire four-person box! It’s so cool!
