Explore the World Heritage-designated Shirakawa-go village, surrounded by natural beauty that feels like a kingdom of streams and forests

Shirakawa-go is surrounded by mountains, interwoven with rice fields, and traversed by flowing rivers, earning it the nickname "Kingdom of Forests and Streams." The Ogimachi village in Shirakawa-go is the largest of the three villages registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Shirakawa-go, Ainokura, and Suganuma in Gokayama), with 152 households. The name "Shirakawa-go" originates from the Daishirakawa River, which flows from the sacred Mount Hakusan and turns milky white and cloudy after merging with the Shogawa River. The Shiroyama Observatory is located in the northeastern part of Ogimachi Gassho Village in Shirakawa-go, offering a panoramic view of the village and the expansive Mount Hakusan in the background.

Takayama Old Town & Shirakawa-go are quite far from Nagoya, so time is limited. Fortunately, there was no traffic jam that day. Sister Liu is kind and the explanation is easy to understand.

The tour was fantastic! Amy, our guide, was incredibly organized and attentive, making sure to check in with everyone, even those at the back of the group. I especially appreciated how she shared detailed explanations of each place using her own photos – such a unique and thoughtful touch! Amy is multilingual, speaking Chinese, Japanese, and English fluently. The driver also deserves a shoutout for his excellent sense of direction, skillfully avoiding traffic jams on the way back to Nagoya. I highly recommend this company for your tour experience!

The team leader/tour guide is very professional, speaks multiple languages, is kind and friendly, arranges well, and explains clearly. He has rich knowledge of the scenic spots and introduces them in detail. The driver drives safely. You can take a tour bus to the observation deck during the itinerary, which is very convenient.

Easy to find the meeting point, tour bus departed on time so advise not to be late for your day tour. Our tour guide - Liu Mei is very experienced and Yamato San is friendly and nice. Because of them we saw the snow on half hill. Kudos for them😂 will definitely use kkday again.

No effort to travel to Takayama and Shirakawa-go. Tour guide cut down the timing spent at Takayama by 30 min citing that we could have extra 30 min at Shirakawago. Nonetheless, we seem to spend the same amount of time at shirakwago. Perhaps the extra 30 min is for traveling from the observatory deck to the village. In all, highly recommended

This one-day tour is excellent taking us to a world heritage which we can’t miss! The tour guide is friendly and coach bus is clean. We could take very nice pictures from the observation deck which is not opened to other tours. Will highly recommend friends to join it.
