Sakurajima is a continuously active volcanic island with an area of approximately 77 square kilometers. It is a representative landmark of Kagoshima Prefecture and is now included in the Kirishima Kinko Bay National Park. Sakurajima is a complex volcano with three peaks: Kitakake, Nakadake, and Minamidake, which is still active today. Kitakake is the highest peak on Sakurajima, with an altitude of 1,117 meters.
