After work last Wednesday, I went to the cafe downstairs from the Hyatt Regency Shatin for a buffet dinner. The moment you step into the restaurant, the whole environment gives a very comfortable feeling, with soft lighting, relaxed music, and enough space between the seats to not feel crowded. The staff was very friendly and served cold water and asked us what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down. At first we went to see the seafood area, where the whole table was filled with chilled fresh seafood: longleg crab, mussels, frozen shrimp and mussels were fresh, crab legs bite meat, dipped in a little lemon juice is already very sweet. Then I walked to the sashimi sushi area, where the chef cut the salmon, tuna and scallops thickly and not fishy, melting in your mouth. There are not many sushi styles, but each piece is very neat. There are plenty of choices in the main course area, with ready-to-grill steak, grilled lamb, roast duck, tempura and Chinese stir-fried noodles. The thing that impressed me the most that night was the grilled steak, which was charred on the outside and a little pink on the inside; with the black pepper sauce, it was great. The Chinese hot plates are not bad, especially the typhoon shelter fried crab, which has a strong garlic flavor. The dessert area is more of a “photo spot” with cakes as exquisite as art, with chocolate fountain, fresh fruit, mango pudding, caramel compote and ice cream. The caramel compote is smooth like custard, slightly browned with crispy sugar, and full of aroma. I couldn't help but eat two cups. Overall, the buffet dinner at the Hyatt Hotel Cafe is of a high standard of food, with a beautiful environment and good service. Although the price is slightly higher, it is affordable for its quality. I would consider coming again the next time I want to celebrate a birthday or meet up with friends.
