Kyoto, Japan｜Arashiyama's time-honored tofu soup restaurant Shoraian

we were given a private room for 3 people. despite language barrier, the staff tried their best to introduce the menu and the dishes served. the food is delicious and rich tofu taste. it is an unique experience to try tofu shabu shabu. will really recommend everyone to try the premium menu.

We were surprised to get our own private room with a jaw dropping view of the mountains and river. The staff were super kind, my phone battery were low, the host lady went out of her way to look for a charger for me, very nice lady. The meal was like art work, delicate and delicious, beautiful presentation.

We loved our experience here. Initially I was not able to book through other reservation services but luckily got one through kkday. The location is serene, just on the bank of the river but away from the crowd. They were able to accommodate our party of five, and the service was top-notch. Each dish is delicate and flavorful, this is the place to try if you love tofu!

The experience was so unusual and quaint. The service was amazing and the meal was delightful and SUCH GOOD VALUE. We went even to another Kaiseki that costs 6x the price but this was much better.

We had a private room which was nice for my family. A great view of the river! The food was tasty and kept us guessing! There is some confusion with the Premium and Signature options. The restaurant doesn't distinguish the options so you may end up paying more than what the meal costs if reserved directly! Beware!!

Nice view, passionate staff and delicious tofu cuisine

This time I chose a vegetarian meal (including fish soup), which tasted very good. If you are a vegetarian who can tolerate a little fish soup, I recommend everyone to try it. The clerk is very kind. Although my Japanese is very poor, I am still willing to communicate. We had a great time chatting, and the overall dining experience was very good. I hope there will be reminders in the future about chatting in a low voice when dining, otherwise it will be too noisy and affect the enjoyment.

It is a short distance from Arashiyama Station, but it is not difficult to find it using Google Navigation, and there are road signs for timely guidance. The route is simple and easy to reach. Along the way, you can enjoy the maple scenery of the mountains, the flowing water of the Katsura River, and the Togetsukyo Bridge. It is very pleasant.

The environment is very private, feels like a forest, comfortable environment, and the food is delicious.
