Shakotan Peninsula Day Tour: Otaru Canal, Kamui Cape, Shimabugi Coast, Yoichi NITORI Orchard | Hokkaidō, Japan

It’s a small group tour with punctual set off timings for different destinations. For us the highlight of this trip was the cherry picking experience, totally enjoyed it. The only flaw of this tour was there isn’t really a ‘proper’ lunch break place, so do bring along some snacks/bread and wait till you reach Otaru to have a delectable seafood late lunch or high tea.

Mr Sun was an amazing tour guide! We loved the seagull feeding experience from the boat! This is a must join tour!

nature and adventure trips, Shakotan is amazing, boat ride in Bikuni had a good time with all seagulls along the ride. I had a good time in Otaru with all foodies. Friit orchard is just okay for me.

this itinerary really suited what i wanted after a self drive to east hokkaido. appreciated driver Zhu's efforts to manoeuvre the congested traffic due to public holiday (Marine Day). thus we had to cut short the time for other attractions e.g. fruit picking. itinerary got delayed such that we only reached Otaru near 5pm (shop closing time). the boat was an interesting experience as we got to look underwater (note - motion sickness), feed seagulls and see the coast. best to take a motion pill prior if needed. he also didn't like the driver's driving. time for Cape Kamui is pretty tight, would advise one to not stop for photo-taking until you reach the lighthouse. there was a human jam because people had to climb on the railings to avoid the muddy ground. should also bring a windbreaker as winds can be strong in that area.

There were less than 15 participants so a van was used and only the driver accompanied the guests. The driver was not in the meeting place inside the Sapporo Station within the scheduled time. Apparently, he was waiting at the parking area which was a bit of a hassle. This caused a slight delay on the departure of the tour (0820ish instead of 0800). Cape Kamui was breathtaking. The weather was pleasant that day. Shimamui Coast was fantastic, too. The Boat Ride was cancelled due to weather conditions. Cherry Picking at Sakuranbo Mountain in Niki-cho was a great experience, too.

Cape Kamui and Shimabu Yihai are very beautiful, the scenery and sky are the same color, and they are well worth a visit.
