The government has announced to shorten the compulsory quarantine at hotels from August 12. Overseas visitors to Hong Kong need to undergo 3-day hotel quarantine. Latest News about Hong Kong Designated Quarantine Hotels (DQHs)

On 16 June 2022, the Hong Kong Government announced the 8th cycle of designated quarantine hotels, which is available for bookings from August 1 to October 31, 2022. 62 hotels with approximately 23,000 rooms will be available in the latest cycle.

The Hong Kong government announced that overseas travellers must spend their mandatory isolation period after arriving Hong Kong. The cycle will provide inbound passengers from anywhere except Mainland China and Macau.

Current policies to enter Hong Kong

Hong Kong introduced the compulsory hotel quarantine requirement for international travellers since December 2020. Under the existing border restrictions, Hong Kong residents and non-residents can enter Hong Kong with the following requirements:

  1. They are fully vaccinated.
  2. They are tested negative on a PCR test within 48 hours before they depart for the city.
  3. They have a booking at a Designated Quarantine Hotels (DQHs) for a minimum of seven days and a maximum of 14 days.

During the quarantine period, travellers are required to take daily RAT tests and PCR tests on the 3rd, 5th and 12th days upon arrival in the HKSAR. If they want to have their DQH checked out on day 7, they must test negative for PCR on day 5 and RAT on days 6 and 7. If they wish to stay for 14 days, they must test negative for the virus on day 12 with PCR and day 14 with RAT.
